Secondary School Futsal

The post primary schools competition caters for boys and girls in first year. The programme delivers a quality fast paced action packed game focusing on skill, speed and technique. 

Competitions begin in October, with Provincial finals in November and National finals in early December. There is a competition in every county and the winners of each section (boys & girls) progress to their respective provincial finals. Each provincial winner will then progress to the National finals.

Transition Year Coach Education Programme

Students that take part in the programme will be certified with the FAI coaching award PDP1. This course is for coaches working with the youngest children involved in the game and will consist of 8 contact hours. The delivery of the course can be tailored to suit the school timetable and can be delivered over a number of weeks. At the end of the course there is an option to get real coaching practice with local primary school children.

Transition Year Football & Fitness Course

This programme is a collaboration of Fingal County Council and the FAI to offer Transition Year students the opportunity to partake in education and football for a year. The programme takes place in Corduff Sports Centre where the participants will be based for the academic year.

Transition year students participating in the programme will mix academic subjects such as Maths and English with PDP 1 & 2 coaching courses and media skills and personal development as well as football training and strength and conditioing work. In addition, the students will undertake an ITEC Fitness Instructors course delivered by Litton Lane Fitness Training. They will also return to local primary schools one day a week to work with teachers in the delivery of PE sessions and gain valuable work experience.

The programme is designed so that the participants can immerse themselves in football for a year, which allows them to commit to the development of their football skills as well as engaging with their communities without compromising their education.

Who can take part?

Transition year students are selected through a trials process and will be picked based on there football ability as well their school report.
